This alarm can be good for keeping teens in, but you need to glue the battery door shut because your teen could simply remove the batteries to turn off the alarm before opening the window. In addition, if you also use it for a door, during the day you may need to put the deactivation key in the alarm so you can use the door without alarming. If you leave the key in the door alarm, all the teen needs to do is take the key while the door is closed, hide it, and use it to disable the alarm for their window.
